2009/10 CSS Committee Candidates' Manifestos
IT & DESIGN OFFICER
Sze Ting Yau
Good evening, everyone. My name is Sze Ting Yau, a first year pharmacy student. I am delighted that I have been nominated for the position of I.T. and design officer.
The reasons why I am taking part in the election for this position is because I have a great interest in designing using variety of computer programs; In becoming member of the committee, I think this will be a great experience and memory in my life which I will treasure forever.
I believe my skills and personalities can fulfil the requirement to become an I.T. and design officer and as a member of committee.
As an I.T. and design officer, the society webpage, facebook and xanga blog will need to be maintained and updated so that members can be informed with the latest news and upcoming events; I believe that I can complete these tasks to the best of my ability. I am willing to learn any extra I.T. skills required for my role; I can adapt and pick up new skills easily which will be very beneficial.
For events such as V-show, I understand that I will need to organise the backstage equipments such as speakers and microphones. I am in no doubt that I will be able to organise the hiring of the equipments plenty of time before they are required as I have excellent time management skills. I will also be able to offer video editing to promote events such as trailers for the V - show.
Furthermore, the other responsibility for I.T. and design officer is to design banners, posters and leaflets to promote the society and its events. My skills in using Photoshop and PowerPoint will aid me to perform these tasks and enhance my creativity.
Being a member of committee, I think team work and communication are essential in order for an organisation to be successful. My experience as a waitress for two years has improved my communication and team working skills. By participating in the Duke of Edinburgh show my determination in finishing and achieving goals. My flexibility in helping the other members of the committee for different tasks will mean the society can run more efficiently, even when committee members are absent. I had a part-time job whilst undertaking my A-level course for two years and this is the evidence to show that I have the ability to manage my time well.
For being out going and sociable, I am confident that I will become a member that is easy to approach for the freshers. I am enthusiastic and lively which could motivate other members of committee and influence members of the society to share our culture to the community.
To conclude, I would like to thank you all for listening. I am confident that in becoming a committee member, it will be beneficial to the Chinese students’ society and its members. Vote for me as the I.T. and design officer for the upcoming year. Thank you very much.
