    PRESIDENT



    Billy Chan


    Introduction

    My name is Billy Chan, a first year pharmacy student. I am delighted to be nominated and I would like to take the role as the president next year for the Chinese Students Society. I am suitable for this job because I believe that I have the many skills which a president requires.

    Roles of the president

        To lead the societies, the committee and its members.
        Responsible for the entire society
        To acquire a large social network.
        To represent the whole of the society.
        To make ideas and create event.
        To communication with others, including other societies.

    Targets

        Find different source of sponsorship
        Campaign for the benefit of the members
        Co-operate with other societies
        Emphasis the Chinese culture
        Hold all sorts of events
        To broaden the popularity of the society

    Conclusion

    The Chinese students’ society is one of the largest cultural societies of the whole of the Students’ Union. It is therefore very important to run the society as efficiently as possible, in order to allow the members to get their most out of it.

    As one of the potential presidents, I wish to create meaningful events which will leave every member with fruitful and valuable memories that they will cherish forever.

    I will try my best to give anything I can towards the society, as well as promoting the Chinese culture to the community and representing the University of Bath to the other universities and the public.

    Why did I choose to be President?
    The reason why I choose to be the president is that I really love this society. I love the people in it and I want to serve them as the previous Ex Committees have served me. I want to make the society better and better. I am confident enough to be a leader.
     
    Why would you vote for me?
    •    Chairman of the oversea student’s committee in high school
    •    As a tutor for young leaders in the leadership camp
    •    House Prefect in high school
    •    Band Leader
    •    Well-Experienced in organizing activities
        Educational talk
        Oversea student party
        Band show
        Leadership camp
        Involved in the variety show in Drama, Band and as a helper of dancing team

    Aims
    •    To expand the society and encourage every member to join every event
    •    To promote Chinese culture to others
    •    To maximize the happiness and benefit of all members
    •    To closer the relationship between different year groups

    What would I do?
    •    To get trust from Student Union so that events can be held easily
    •    To hold a welcoming party, dinner, career talk to closer the relationship between different year groups
    •    To hold Joint-society events, such as singing competition with chinaren
    •    To hold joint-university events such as friendly matches. The other universities are like Bristol, Durham etc

    In conclusion, I wish to maximize the happiness and benefit of all members and I believe that I am able to make Chinese Student Society a better society where happiness is reaped by every single member. I am an open-minded and more than capable leader with great passion. So please vote me Jeffrey Lam as the President. Thank you very much.
